In September, the DEKApro charity event for Hospital Hořovice took place at the Nový rybník complex in Příbram, organised by the non-profit association Babíkov. When a kind heart, skilful hands and a desire to help come together, the result is something that literally warms the heart. And that is precisely what the DEKApro project is all about. So far, a total of 64,700 CZK has been raised for the DIOP department at Hospital Hořovice.
The entire sum is earmarked to support the Department of Long-Term and Intensive Nursing Care for Children (DIOP) at Hospital Hořovice. This department provides comprehensive care for children with serious, life-limiting illnesses. As well as addressing medical needs, the care provided also includes psychological, social and spiritual support for the children and their families.
“At the DIOP ward, we provide multidisciplinary care to children with serious, life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses, whilst also supporting their families. We do not focus solely on the child’s medical condition, but on all areas of life affected by the illness. As well as medical and nursing care, we therefore also help families on psychological, social and other levels,” summarises Dr Tereza Tomanová, head physician of the DIOP Department.
“The sum of 64,700 CZK is a wonderful result and we are delighted with it. We greatly appreciate everyone who devoted their time to making the blankets, helped organise the charity event or purchased one of the blankets. Such support is not just financial assistance for us. It is also a vital source of encouragement and proof that the public cares deeply about the welfare of our young patients and their families. Our sincere thanks go to everyone,” says Chief Physician Dr Mahulena Exnerová.
You can still help
The story of the DEKApro project for Hospital Hořovice does not end with the charity event. Several original, handmade blankets are still available in the Babíkov association’s online shop. By purchasing them, interested parties can not only acquire a unique product, but above all continue to support the children in the DIOP ward and increase the project’s total proceeds. The association confirms on its website that the remaining blankets are still on sale and the amount raised so far may still increase.
The available blankets can be selected from the BABÍKOV association’s online shop.
We would like to thank the Babíkov charity and all the blanket makers, partners and visitors. Every blanket purchased has contributed to the collective result, which has supported the care of seriously ill children and their families.
The DEKApro campaign for Hospital Hořovice continues. Every blanket brings warmth twice over: to its new owner and, through the proceeds, to the children and their families who need our help.
