We support prevention even without a beard

Every year, the doctors of our hospital participate in the global Movember campaign. The event, which aims to raise awareness of men's diseases, has always been characterised by men growing moustaches in the autumn. This year, the campaign has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Beard or shaved face, it doesn't matter. This year, we got involved in a different way," says Milan Pastucha, the head of orthopaedics in Hořovice, who is behind the organisation of the Movember support event at the Hořovice Hospital every year. "We're in protective gear all day, we have respirators on our airways, so it's not possible to grow a beard. Some colleagues, on the other hand, had to start shaving," explains MUDr. Pastucha. "We have made 'a reasonable amount of exercise in the fresh air is good for everyone' our motto this autumn, so we are running. Our goal is to run 100 km this autumn. Especially nowadays, we want to emphasize that there are other diagnoses than COVID-19. Among the worst ones are various tumors. In the male population, especially prostate tumors. Prevention programs have their place and their goal is early detection of the disease and thus a better chance of a cure."

Don't forget about preventive screening.
