Throughout the year, Nedoklubko works to raise awareness of the topic of premature birth, supports research into its causes and prevention, and regularly visits parents of premature babies at all 27 specialized clinics where premature or sick babies are cared for. Another big part of Nedoklubek's work is financial support for neonatal units. It mainly focuses on supporting the application of so-called developmental care, which significantly benefits the overall development of premature babies and also improves and strengthens parental competence in a hospital setting.
The Run and Walk for BABIES IN DEN consists of an individual, family or collective registering via the registration form at www.darujme.cz/beh and selecting the amount of their donation as well as the neonatology department they wish to support during the event. Then they just wait until 5 May, when they can go anywhere, anytime during the day and then let us know the details of their activity via the resulting form. "At the moment we have already registered 200 runners, 1,000 walkers, over 200 strollers and 140 dogs," says Markéta Řehořová, a member of the Nedoklubek executive board and project manager of the event, with a smile.
Nedoklubko organised its first virtual nationwide Run and Walk in May 2021. More than 17,000 participants took part in the past three editions and almost three million crowns were distributed to support neonatology wards. "We wish to use the proceeds of this year's event mainly to finance the necessary equipment to support the joint stay of parents and babies on the ward and courses in developmental care and further education to improve the care of the smallest patients," explains Lucie Žáčková.
"This year, for the fourth time, we will celebrate the World Day of Parents of Premature Babies with movement. Thousands of parents, families, work teams, doctors, nurses, as well as premature babies traditionally run or walk on the first Sunday in May. We always wish to celebrate the strength of parents and babies together, to thank all the medical staff for their excellent care, to support the neonatology wards with what they need and to show solidarity with the parents and babies who are currently spending their days and weeks in neonatology," concludes Lucie Žáčková.
