At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister and his entourage were introduced to the structure of AKESO Holding and its healthcare facilities. They were introduced to the Hořovice Hospital, the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, including the Mental Rehabilitation Centre being built there, and the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre in Pardubice, which together with the Pardubice Hospital forms the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region.
"We devoted a larger part of the presentation to acquainting the Prime Minister with the ongoing construction of the New Generation Hospital, or Pandemic Hospital, as it is known in the workplace, which is currently being built on the premises of the Hořovice Hospital and which will significantly increase its capacity and the spectrum and quality of services provided," said JUDr. Jaroslav Bartoš, Director for External Relations of AKESO Holding. "After the presentation and a short discussion, the Prime Minister and his entourage visited the premises of the maternity hospital U Sluneční brány, which is the largest in the Central Bohemian Region in terms of the number of births each year. In addition, the guests visited the unique children's intensive care unit, where doctors and other staff provide multidisciplinary chronic intensive care to paediatric patients."
"I have already had the opportunity to visit our sister hospital in Beroun and I can confirm that both hospitals are beautiful, modern facilities. The Pandemic Hospital project, which is currently under construction, certainly has an important place in the healthcare delivery network in the country. We need to be prepared for the next wave of a pandemic, although I believe it will not come," said Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.
"The expansion of the hospital was already desirable before the covid-19 pandemic, mainly because of the great interest in the health care provided by our patients who come to us from all over the country. The threat of the covid-19 disease modified our plans and view of construction so that the owner of AKESO Holding, Mr. Sotirios Zavalianis, came up with the vision of the Pandemic Hospital, according to which the plans and construction and technological documentation were subsequently modified," described the director of the Hořovice Hospital, MUDr. Michal Průša. "The new extension will not only provide for the expansion of the inpatient parts of the existing wards, new facilities and improved quality of care, but will also serve as a medical facility that will be ready in the event of new pandemics to immediately provide care to patients from a wide area in the Central Bohemia and Pilsen regions, either directly or by taking over patients from other hospitals, thus enabling other hospitals to provide health care without interruption or limitation."
