"The reason for the expansion is the increase in surgical procedures, especially for IBD surgery patients, orthopaedic TEP surgeries and the need for common surgical procedures in other fields such as gynaecology, ENT and urology. Around 5,300 surgical procedures were performed last year alone. We hope to reduce waiting times for appointments by expanding outpatient clinics. We are trying to accommodate patients as much as possible," says Michal Průša, MD, Director of the Hořovice Hospital.
According to Tomáš Petsinis, the NH's operational and technical deputy, the fifth operating theatre will be operational from September this year. Around the same time, the new pavilion of outpatient clinics is also planned to become operational. "We want to be as comprehensive a hospital as possible, able to treat as wide a range of patients as possible," says the NH deputy.
Both agree on the importance that the additional building that is going up behind the hospital's transfusion station will have. This is the future central archive, which will serve to centralize and modernize the medical records of patients, not only of the hospital in Horovice, but also of the hospital in Beroun.
