10. 11. 2014

"Napominajet nam otel' - Ne v bol'nitse." - It looks more like a hotel than a medical facility, medical students from Kazakhstan reacted to the Hořovice Hospital when they visited it.

Students from the Faculty of Medicine of Almaty University chose Hořovice on the recommendation of Pharmacy Management, which also organized their visit to the Czech Republic. The foreign delegation was surprised not only by the high standard of the Hořovice hospital and the newly renovated modern premises, but also by the pleasant environment and professional staff.
The six Kazakh students had the opportunity to see the transfusion, paediatric and internal wards, the maternity ward at the Sun Gate and the neonatology ward. The hospital managers informed them about the specialisation, equipment and capacity of each department, as well as about the specific problems that are solved there.
At the final stage of the visit, the Kazakh students were hosted by Andrey Kovalenko, MD, Head of the Surgical Halls. In their mother tongue he explained to them the organizational chart of the hospital in Horovice. They talked about the fundamental transformation that the hospital had undergone after privatisation.
The future doctors were interested in the mode of operation of the surgical theatres, the quality of the instrumentation and the methods of performing procedures. They intend to go into surgery. During their short stay in the Czech Republic, the students have already had the opportunity to get acquainted with the environment of other medical institutions. They admitted, however, that they had not encountered anything as good as in Hořovice and, as they themselves said, they were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the hospital in Hořovice.
