Luděk Pelikán, M.D., Director of Hořovice Hospital, presents the priorities of the hospital modernization

The Hořovice Hospital is a fully functional facility with eight inpatient wards and a wide range of outpatient services, while the professional level of the staff here also reaches a high level. In addition, the modernisation and completion of the hospital premises is currently being completed, which will lead to an increase in patient comfort. At the same time, the hospital's equipment is being continuously modernised.

The times have changed considerably, the environment and surroundings are different, competition has emerged, the medical community is sleeping and, above all, the role of the patient is changing, who is also becoming a client and, according to our idea, a partner in the care of his or her health. The time when nobody cared about the individual needs of patients is coming to an end. Our main goal is to make the patient not only get well in the hospital, but to make him or her feel good, thanks to the kind and helpful attitude of our staff.

As part of the development of care that will go well beyond the regional level, this year we are counting on the opening of a chronic and resuscitation care unit for paediatric patients (OCHRIP), which will be one of the unique facilities in the Czech Republic. In addition, the surgical department will undergo a very significant change, which, in addition to routine surgical care, will provide, together with other related disciplines, comprehensive care for patients with chronic non-specific inflammatory bowel diseases.

This year, intensive construction and reconstruction work will continue in the remaining wing of the hospital, during which the comfort of patients in the surgical and orthopaedic wards will be improved. As part of this reconstruction, a new neonatal intensive care unit will also be built.
