Birth of the thousandth baby at the beginning of August confirms Hořovice as the largest maternity hospital in Central Bohemia

3. 8. 2016

The thousandth baby was born at the Hořovice Maternity Hospital U Sluneční brány on Tuesday, 2 August 2016, which is exactly three weeks earlier than last year. The lucky mother was Mrs. Kristýna Taclíková, who gave birth to her daughter Emmička at exactly 03.58. She weighed 2 910 g and measured 45 cm.

The little jubilant Emmička and her parents, her mother, twenty-five-year-old Kristýna Taclíková and her father Jakub Taclík from nearby Chyňava, were greeted a day later by representatives of the Hořovice hospital management, i.e. the head of the Hořovice maternity hospital Věra Pavlů, MUDr. Věra Pavlů, the head of neonatology Milena Dokoupilová, MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová and the head nurse Blanka Červenková. The ladies' delegation presented the newlywed mother with a gift package from the hospital pharmacy.

The young mother told us that the birth was spontaneous. The doctor who received us was very helpful and sympathetic. The nurses who took care of us here were equally pleasant," says Mrs Taclíková, who had already received very positive references from her friends about the Hořovice maternity hospital.

It is well known that the Hořovice maternity hospital is becoming increasingly popular and its services are sought out not only by women from Berounsko, but also from further afield. "Our maternity hospital is already well-known throughout the entire Central Bohemia region, which is why women come here not only from the surrounding region, but also from Prague and other cities of the country. They are attracted to us not only by the modern and pleasant facilities, but also - at least according to what they say - by the kind and professional staff," says Věra Pavlů, M.D., head of the maternity hospital U Sluneční brány.

"Every year we welcome the thousandth baby a little earlier, which only proves that Hořovice is becoming more and more famous among future parents," says her colleague MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, head of the Hořovice neonatal ward. According to her estimates, this year the Hořovice maternity ward will record another record and the number of babies born will exceed 1,700 (in 2015 there were 1,599 babies).

And why is the maternity ward at Sluneční brána so popular among mothers-to-be? "We strive to provide not only medically quality, but also human care to all newborns and their families. At the same time, we try to create a home-like atmosphere," explains the neonatologist from Horovice.

Her words are confirmed by another mother, Veronika Pejřilová, who gave birth to her first daughter in the Hořovice maternity hospital. "My hat is off to the midwife and doctor who delivered me - Veronika Kadeřábková. They were great and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Your hospital and all the staff are a joy. I can't let you down and I recommend you to everyone," praises the new mother.

Out of 1000 babies born in Hořovice this year, thirteen twins were born, 540 girls and 460 boys. Of these, 105 babies were born prematurely (i.e. before the 38th week). Hořovice neonatology has an intensive care unit with the status of a perinatology centre of intermediate care and the staff is able to take care of children born from the 31st gestational week of pregnancy.

Hořovice Maternity Hospital allows future parents to see the premises of the maternity hospital before the birth itself, through prenatal talks, which can be booked in advance by calling Mgr. Pavla Fíkarová, head nurse of the gynaecology and obstetrics department.
