Zirafka Foundation

9. 2. 2023

The Žirafka Foundation Fund was established on 20 October 2016 and, after the technical procedures, its full activity started in January 2017. Its main mission is to help and support pediatric patients who are hospitalized at the Hořovice Hospital and their families during their treatment. At the same time, its purpose is to help and support activities improving the environment of the wards with paediatric patients and activities aimed at applying the most modern approaches in treatment and equipping these wards with modern instrumentation.

It is now 5 years since NF has been helping and supporting all pediatric patients who are hospitalized in the pediatric wards of Hořovice Hospital. This includes the neonatal ward with an intensive care unit for newborns from the 30th week of pregnancy, the paediatric ward, which cares for children of all ages and which also includes a long-term and nursing care unit for children with life-limiting illnesses without the need for ventilatory support (DIOP). The third paediatric ward in the hospital is the Post Intensive Care Unit (PICU), which provides multidisciplinary intensive and resuscitative care to children of all ages who are seriously or terminally ill.

As the hospital's paediatric wards provide regional as well as supra-regional care, it is necessary to continually add or improve instrumentation to provide the highest quality and most up-to-date care. In addition to the correct targeting of funds, transparency and professionalism are equally important to the Žirafka Foundation. An annual report is published every year. Thanks to the kind financial support from satisfied parents of the children treated, the general public and various companies, we have managed to raise a total of over CZK 1.5 million in the Foundation's account over the past 5 years. These funds were used to purchase a modular ventilator for newborns with the possibility of non-invasive and invasive ventilation, a device for searching for hearing defects and disorders in newborns and young infants. For follow-up chronic care, a reclining stroller was purchased for walk-in options. A contract is currently being signed for canister therapy - therapy dogs and select rehabilitation and motivational aids for children with life-limiting illnesses who are long term inpatients in the DIOP AND NICU.

Funds are always needed, we welcome new sponsors and donors with open arms and we greatly appreciate any supporters of our fund. Parents of sick children appreciate this support immensely and are grateful for any help that can improve the health of their children.

You can donate through the Foundation's web portal(www.nf-zirafka.cz) or directly to NF 115-3251640217/0100 with any amount.

"On behalf of the Endowment Fund, I would like to thank all of our previous sponsors for their kind support and the opportunity to help these children. I believe that in the coming year we will be able to raise additional funds to purchase the necessary devices, aids or to further improve the environment of the children's wards," adds the Chairwoman of the Žirafka Endowment Fund , MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová.
