Movember in Hořovice Hospital

For the fourth year, orthopaedic surgeons joined the Movember event to help fight cancer.

Every year, the Men Against Cancer Foundation works with the charity Movember. Men grow beards, moustaches and beards for the month of November. They are rewarded for their bravery with financial contributions from friends, acquaintances and colleagues, all to support preventative screening.

As in previous years, the leader of the group of Hořovice beards is the head of the orthopaedic department, Milan Pastucha, MD. "This year in Movember, I am raising funds and awareness for all the dads, brothers, sons and friends in our lives," commented the Hořovice Chief Medical Officer on his involvement in the event.

The Movember Foundation improves the lives of men through projects focused on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

"Our doctors managed to raise more than 14 thousand CZK. The motto of the event is "Prevent men from dying needlessly young" and I am glad that we contributed to this mission with our beards," adds Milan Pastucha, MD.

The Men Against Cancer Foundation seeks to fight in the field of the typically male form of cancer, which is prostate and testicular cancer. Both forms unfortunately cover the complete age spectrum. While prostate cancer mainly affects older men, the risk group for testicular cancer is very young men.
