Hořovice Maternity Hospital welcomed this year's thousandth baby

Not only mothers from the region come here, but also from Prague and other cities of the country, who are attracted by the pleasant and modern facilities, professional and kind staff," says MUDr. Aleš Klán, head of the gynaecology and obstetrics department.
It is widely known that the Hořovice maternity hospital is becoming more and more popular. "According to our data, the number of births has been steadily increasing over the years," says MUDr. Aleš Klán, head of the gynaecology and obstetrics department. "Every year we welcome the thousandth baby a little earlier, which only proves that our maternity hospital is becoming more and more well-known. Recently, we also recorded the first birth of triplets in the history of the hospital."
And why is the Sun Gate Maternity Hospital so popular with mums-to-be? "We strive to provide not only medically sound, but humane care to all newborns and their families. At the same time, we strive to create a home-like atmosphere in the ward. We try to respect birth plans," says Milena Dokoupilová, MD, head of the neonatology department.
One of the mysteries surrounding births is related to the question, why are most births in summer? "Statistics clearly prove that most babies are born in July. There is no medical explanation for these results," says MUDr. Dokoupilová. Rather, it could be related to the date of conception, which corresponds to the part of the year when the nights get longer and the days shorter. In contrast, the fewest babies are born in December and February.
"There are a number of lay theories ranging from more frequent power outages in autumn to a regenerated body after the holidays that is better prepared for conception. However, it is questionable whether with the increasing problems with conception, July will still be the leading month in birth rates," the Gorovice neonatologist said.

As the table shows, in the last 4 years it has been no different at our maternity hospital in Hořovice. And the year 2015 will be no different. Even in July this year, our maternity hospital had the most babies born in a month in its existence. There were exactly 150 babies.
