Long-time blood donor of the Hořovice blood transfusion department exceeded the significant milestone of 160 donations this year

Mr. Miroslav Mach from Beroun crossed an important milestone this year when he completed his 160th blood donation. He was awarded the Gold Cross of the Czech Red Cross First Class for this exceptional long-term help. He donates blood regularly at the Transfusion Department at Hořovice Hospital, where he is a welcome and well-known donor. Even after surpassing the 160 donations mark, he keeps going.

A donor's journey spanning four decades

He started donating in the 1980s. As he recalls with a smile, it was more of a recession that drove him to it then. "I wanted to get out of the army, so I went to donate blood. The first time was in Ostrava, then three more times in Frýdek-Místek. After the war, I started donating at the hospital in Hořovice and since then I have been donating only here," says Miroslav Mach, an important donor.

The original idea has become a natural part of his life. "After a few donations I got used to it and took it as a normal thing. Today, I can't even imagine it without donating blood," he adds. His approach is an inspiration to others. His daughter has also joined the donation.

Most of his donations have taken place in Hořovice. For him, donating blood is an opportunity to help others, but he also sees it as a personal benefit. "I also see it as a benefit, because when I donate I have an examination and you know that everything is fine," he adds.

Thanks and recognition

Miroslav Mach has been donating blood for more than four decades and at the end of October he had his 162nd blood donation. On this occasion, Hořovice Hospital expressed its gratitude to him and presented him with a donation in recognition of his many years of help and loyalty to donation.

Mr. Mach is an example of a humble and persistent donor who helps quite naturally, without the need for attention or recognition. Every donation he makes means hope for someone in need of blood.

Thank you to all who regularly come to donate blood and help others by their decision.
