The seminar was introduced by the Deputy Director for Medical and Preventive Care MUDr. Radek Majerčin, who presented not only the hospital in Hořovice, but also the entire medical holding AKESO, of which the hospital is a part.
Subsequently, the head of the surgical department, MUDr. Martin Oberreiter, took the floor. The aim of his lecture was to introduce the surgical department and a detailed description of what awaits the newly arrived doctors in his department. He did not forget to mention what innovations are being prepared and where he wants to move the department under his leadership.
MUDr. Tomáš Šebek described to the students his life story, when as a young doctor he came to the hospital in Horovice, where he learned everything he needed to learn on his missions. He supplemented his story with realistic photos of patients, operations and experiences from his travels abroad. The students had a chance to look under the hood of how surgeries are performed in different parts of the world.
The last lecture was a great help and one can say a mirror setting, where the representatives of the young doctors from Horovice, MUDr. Václav Nesrsta and MUDr. Vojtěch Ludvík, talked about their beginnings in the hospital, how they were accepted by their more senior colleagues, how they were supervised by a mentor who guided them in the beginning, checked them and taught them until they were confident and much more. Without any embellishment, they described their entire adaptation process and admitted to moments that were not always rosy. Such an objective view was appreciated most of all by the audience.
After the lectures, the attendees were treated to refreshments, during which they had the opportunity to freely debate with the lecturing doctors. All attendees agreed that the day had been a great help in their decision making regarding their future careers and the opportunity to have a personal and uninterrupted conversation with such eminent doctors was indispensable.
As a bonus, the HR department prepared a surprise for two lucky participants, a voucher to the Greek restaurant FILEMA.
