We were to support the Czech Heart Foundation

23. 4. 2018

The first ever Proběhni.se race took place over the weekend, supported by the Czech Heart Foundation, which aims to help children with heart defects in third world countries and to educate the Czech public about heart disease prevention. A whopping 904 runners entered the race and collectively donated CZK 450,200 to the Czech Heart Fund.

24 employees of Hořovice Hospital, Hořovice Pharmacy and Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital signed up for the race. Competitors could choose from a 6 km or 11 km circuit.

"In the grounds of IKEM (Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine) and Kunratice Forest, we ran 11 km in the middle of spring nature and contributed to children who would otherwise not receive the necessary medical care. We will definitely take part again next year," said Andrea Nezbedová, a pharmacist from Horovice.

"Beautiful weather, spring nature and a wonderful atmosphere, all wrapped up under the banner of a charity event for children. What better way to spend a Saturday day," praised the event MUDr. Adam Bouše, a doctor at the Beroun hospital, who placed 21st out of nearly 300 runners in the 11 km run.

Each participant had the opportunity to be examined in the medical town directly in the background of the race on the IKEM premises. The best Czech cardiologists were present, including the renowned Czech cardiac surgeon Professor Jan Pirk.
