The third year of the virtual Run and Walk for MIMINKA DO DLANA of the Nedoklubko non-profit organization is coming up

27. 4. 2023

On average, 23 babies are born prematurely every day in the Czech Republic. This puts their parents in a situation for which they were not prepared. Nedoklubko has prepared comprehensive information and psychological support for these mothers and fathers and accompanies them on their journey with their premature baby. The first Sunday in May is the global celebration of Parents of Premature Babies Day and to mark the occasion, a traditional charity run and walk will be held to support neonatal units caring for premature babies.

Anyone can take part in the event, the route and location are optional, just register and donate your entry fee to one of the 33 neonatology wards or Nedoklubek. The goal this year is to reach the number of 8500 participants in the run or walk, because that is how many babies are born in the Czech Republic every year. Registration takes place on the website www.miminkadodlane.cz.

Nedoklubko organized its first virtual nationwide Run and Walk for Babies to Babies in May 2021. In the past two years, a total of 2,847 runners participated and 7,634 people went on the walk. The total proceeds in support of the neonatology wards came to almost two million crowns. The goal was always to run or walk a total of 8500 kilometres. "This year we have different, higher ambitions. We wish to involve at least 8500 participants in the event, counting runners, walkers and children in prams," says Lucie Žáčková, chairwoman and director of the Nedoklubko organisation. The run and walk for MIMINKA DO DLANA is scheduled for 7 May this year.

"This year, for the third time, we will celebrate the World Day of Parents of Premature Babies with movement. Thousands of parents, families, work teams, doctors, nurses, and premature babies traditionally run or walk on the first Sunday in May. To thank all the medical staff of the Czech Republic for their work, to support the neonatology wards with what they need and to show our solidarity with those parents and babies who are currently spending their days and weeks in neonatology," concludes Lucie Žáčková.
