SOS (not only) for Madeleine

31. 3. 2025

The Hořovice Hospital has joined the search for help for two-year-old Madlena, who has recently contracted a very serious hematopoietic disorder and is in urgent need of bone marrow from a suitable donor.

On Friday 4 April 2025 from 10am to 5pm, we will be recruiting for the bone marrow donor register. A suitable candidate is a healthy adult under the age of 35 who is not on regular medication and weighs more than 50kg.

Two-year-old Madeleine is currently in life-threatening danger and only a timely bone marrow transplant could reverse this condition. But so far, no matching donor has been found, either among her next of kin or in donor registries around the world. Therefore, recruitment events for the Czech National Bone Marrow Donor Registry are taking place all over the Czech Republic.

The condition for joining the registry:

  • age from 18 to 40 years old (up to 41st birthday)
  • excellent health
  • no permanent medication and treatment (exception is contraception)
  • weight more than 50 kg
  • public health insurance valid in the Czech Republic
  • willingness to help any patient not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad
  • willingness to undergo blood tests and other examinations
  • willingness to give your time and comfort

Recruitment at the Hořovice Hospital:

WHEN: Friday 4 April 2025 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The applicant simply fills in a questionnaire and a health worker collects a sample from his/her oral cavity with a brush.

Further information can also be found on the registry website at this link.

Thank you to all those who will take part in the recruitment process. The more people registered in the registry, the better the chances of survival for seriously ill patients.
