The3rd annual Run Against Dementia was held on Wednesday, September 18. The aim was to symbolically draw attention to the issue of dementia in the elderly. Runners (and walkers) of all ages and abilities were welcome. The entry fee of 100 CZK was also a contribution to the Home of St. Agnes of Bohemia Charity Beroun, where they care for seniors with dementia. The whole event was sponsored by Charity Beroun and the Rozběháme Česko organization.
"The whole run started with a warm-up, followed by the run itself. The route was about 4 km long. The atmosphere was amazing. It is always nice to see that people can unite for a good cause," says Veronika Cafourková, receptionist at the Hořovice Hospital, who was one of the participants of the run.
"There were approximately 500 runners today and I am glad that employees of our hospitals were among them. The proceeds of the event will support the local St. Agnes of Bohemia Home for the elderly with Alzheimer's disease, which is another incentive for participation," said Petra Horáková, spokeswoman for the Hořovice Hospital.
The event will take place from May to October 2019 in 12 Central Bohemian towns.
