Chief, could you briefly introduce yourself to our patients? Where have you worked so far?
Professionally, I am a gynaecologist with a focus on gynaecological oncology and endoscopic gynaecological surgery. However, in my surgical portfolio and in my area of professional interest is also oncological senology, urogynecology, i.e. complete gynecological and oncogynecological surgery in general.
My previous workplace was the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady, or the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University, where I worked as an assistant professor and head of the operating theatres, head of the department of conservative gynaecology and oncogynaecological outpatient clinic for 11 years. I spent the next 15 years at the Military University Hospital - ÚVN Prague, from where I moved to your hospital as the head of the gynaecological department.
With whom did you cooperate in your previous departments?
Similarly to painters, their school is mentioned in biographies and catalogues in order to explain their direction and thus indicate their work, let me mention here my teachers who shaped and directed my professional steps in gynaecology and also in my personal life. Thus, I was initiated into the introduction of abdominal oncogynecological surgery by Doc. Svoboda, the then head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, where I started my first job in 1989 as a gynaecologist after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine. Above all, I consider my teachers to be excellent surgeons and humanly rare colleagues, who were: assistant MUDr. Jiří Svárovský, Assoc. MUDr. Karel Citterbart and MUDr. Václav Pecha, with whom I had the honour to work at the Institute of Gynaecological Oncology in Prague and who not only introduced me to the secrets of gynaecological endoscopy, gynaecological oncology and oncological senology, but these three were and still are my great human role models and at the same time I can consider them my friends.
What are your impressions of your work at the hospital in Hořovice so far? How does Hořovice compare to hospitals in Prague?
The Hořovice hospital has great potential, it is well equipped, and at an excellent level, it does not lack cutting-edge modern technologies, it can compare with any top hospital not only in the Czech Republic, but anywhere in the world. I can afford to make this assessment because I have had the opportunity to work and train in endoscopic and robotic gynaecological surgery in several training centres in Germany, France and the USA.
What plans are you coming up with and what innovations would you like to introduce in the gynaecology department?
The plans are simple: just as I have done in other medical institutions, I will simply use the hospital's excellent facilities and professional medical staff for the benefit of patients from near and far, so that all patients, even those with serious cancer diagnoses, will receive the same standard of care as anywhere else in the world, by which I mean in particular state-of-the-art surgical oncology and endoscopy centres.
At the same time, I would like to motivate especially my young colleagues - doctors - with my work, to pass on my experience to them, to follow trends and developments in our field and also to put new technologies into practice, which seems to be going well with the support of the enlightened management and the owner of the hospital.
