Hořovice Hospital annually hospitalizes 19,000 patients from a wide area of the Central Bohemia Region, Prague and the whole Czech Republic. It performs 580,000 outpatient examinations, 12,000 blood draws, 6,000 surgical procedures and 1,800 babies are born there annually. It has contracts with all health insurance companies and the investment in its operation by the owner has exceeded CZK 1 billion in recent years.
"I respect Václav Klaus for his consistent attitude towards private business and I am happy to show him that he belongs in the health sector despite the fact that it is such a sensitive area. Since privatisation in 2007, we have not only not limited but on the contrary expanded the spectrum of care of our hospital. People often ask us how come we are profitable and the state hospital is not. It is simply efficiency. A private owner is simply a better farmer, regardless of the business sector," says Sotirios Zavalianis, Chairman of the Board of AKESO Holding and owner of Hořovice Hospital.
"In my thirty years of my political career, my political life, I have known tens or hundreds of hospitals and I have no comparison that a hospital in a city of 6 thousand could look like this. I think this hospital is absolutely unique and I can only praise it and wish that the company will continue to thrive," said Václav Klaus about the visit.
